The Phoenix Fuelmasters relied on Cyrus Baguio and Matthew Wright in the final two minutes to erase a 10-point fourth quarter deficit for a 94-90 win on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

A Jonathan Grey triple gave Meralco a two-point lead heading into the final minute and a half of the game, but Baguio rang in his own version of a long bomb at the other end to give Phoenix a 91-90 edge in the final 72 seconds.

After an Ed Daquioag miss, Grey sent Wright to the line for two charities, stretching the lead to three with 27 seconds to go. Meralco sued for time, but came up empty after a Grey attempt from deep. A Wright split with 16 ticks left put the game away.

"I'm just relieved," said Phoenix coach Ariel Vanguardia after the game. "We lost the last two games with an average of 31 points. It's like sleepless nights for all of us."

Wright finished the game with 22 points to lead Phoenix, while Mark Borboran added 17 markers. Cyrus Baguio and Gelo Alolino had 11 points each, while Simon Enciso and John Wilson had seven points apiece off the bench.

Grey came off the bench to pace Meralco with 24 points in 23 minutes on the floor, while Reynel Hugnatan led the starters with 15. Cliff Hodge and Ed Daquioag scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Joseph Yeo and Baser Amer combined for 16. —JST, GMA News
