PBA: San Miguel secures Commissioner’s Cup crown vs TNT

Alex Cabagnot recorded a triple double as the San Miguel Beermen overwhelmed the TNT KaTropa from the get-go to earn the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup, 115-91, on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Cabagnot finished the game with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, while Charles Rhodes led the team in scoring with 30 points. Marcio Lassiter also had 24 points, as Chris Ross rounded up the starters in double figures with 14. Arwind Santos was stellar off the bench with 17 markers.

The Beermen raced to a 37-26 edge in the opening period, before holding TNT to just 16 while scoring 25  to take a 20-point lead at the half, 62-42.

The Texters were able to get their offense going in the third, tallying 27 points, but they struggled to contain the Beermen, who continued with their hot shooting for 32 points and a 94-69 edge heading into the final frame.

Troy Rosario paced TNT with 21 points, while Roger Pogoy hit 16. Josh SMith and Jayson Castro chipped in 15 and 13 points, respectively.

It is San Miguel's first Commissioner's Cup crown since their back-to-back titles in 1999 and 2000. — BM, GMA News
