Eagles outlast Tams to remain unbeaten

The Ateneo Blue Eagles erased a double digit deficit with a 23-9 run in the payoff period to defeat the FEU Tamaraws, 70-59, on Saturday.

Down by as many as 12 points at one points, the Eagles outclassed the Tamaraws, 43-25, in the second half to earn the come from behind win.

Matt Nieto and Raffy Verano led the Eagles with 14 points apiece, scoring 15 of their team’s 23 fourth quarter points en route to victory.

Ron Dennison led FEU with 12 points, while Arvin Tolentino and Hubert Cani tallied 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The three, however, combined for just two points in the pivotal fourth quarter, as Jasper Parker hit five of the Tamaraws’ nine points in the final 10 minutes of the game. — DVM, GMA News
