Two-time UAAP MVP Ben Mbala says goodbye to La Salle Green Archers
The Cameroonian Green Archer who led De La Salle University (DLSU) to victory in the 2016 UAAP men's basketball announced a heartfelt goodbye to his team on Friday.
In a tweet, the back-to-back UAAP Most Valuable Player Ben Mbala said leaving his Lasallian family was the "toughest" decision he had to make.
"After five years, two incredible UAAP seasons, numerous off-season tournaments, and, of course, countless unforgettable memories, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that the time has come for me to move on from De La Salle University and the Green Archers," Mbala he said.

Earlier, Mexican basketball club Fuerza Regia announced in an Instragram post that Mbala will be playing for them in the country's professional league, the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional.
In his statement, Mbala conveyed gratitude to his all his supporters, his teammates, their head coach Aldin Ayo and La Salle patron Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr., all of whom he said made his stay in the Philippines "truly worthwhile."
"I also want to thank the entire Lasallian community and fans, thank you for your never-ending support. I know my choice might come as a surprise to many and I have to admit, the decision to leave was the toughest I have had to make after being with La Salle for so many years, but I feel that decision is best for the next stage in my career and development." he said.
"I am truly grateful for having had the opportunity to represent the Green Archers and will always be Lasallian at heart." he added.
Mbala's performance led the Green Archers to winning the Season 79 championship in 2016 and finishing as runner-up in 2017.
DLSU failed to bag the championship in Season 80, losing to the Ateneo Blue Eagles. — RSJ, GMA News
