The TNT KaTropa virtually led from start to finish as it cruised past sister team Meralco, 99-81, on Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

The KaTropa led by as many as 22 points, as a total of six players scored in double figures. Troy Rosario led TNT with 22 markers and 10 boards, while RR Garcia tallied 18. RR Pogoy chipped in 15 off the bench, as Ryan Reyes and Anthony Semerad scored 10 apiece. Jayson Castro rounded up the scorers in double figures with 12.

TNT also capitalized on rebounding, 52-46, and second chance points, 14-4. Coach Nash Racela’s squad also hit five more triples than their Meralco counterparts, enough to earn the victory.

Baser Amer paced Meralco with 20 points, but the former San Beda guard got little help from the rest of the squad, as only Jared Dillinger and Nino Canaleta scored in double figures with a combined 25 points. Chris Newsome was limited to just six points after going 1 of 7 from the field. — DVM, GMA News
