The Alaska Aces limited Barangay Ginebra San Miguel to just 10 points in the second quarter to earn a 97-83 victory on Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Veteran Vic Manuel led the Aces off the bench with 18 points, while fellow big man Sonny This tallied 17 as a starter. Chris Banchero and Jayvee Casio, meanwhile, provided a potent backcourt 1-2 punch with a combined 27 points.

The Aces led by as many as 18 markers at one point in the game, converting Ginebra’s 23 turnovers into 27 big points.

Alaska also pounded the ball inside without Ginebra’s big men, converting 46 points from the shaded area to cruise to victory.

Four Ginebra starters scored in double figures, with Aljon Mariano scoring a team-high 15 points. Japeth Aguilar, Scottie Thompson, and Kevin Ferrer added 12 apiece, while LA Tenorio was limited to just five points off a 1 of 13 shooting clip. The Gin Kings were severely shorthanded against the Aces, with Greg Slaughter, Joe Devance, and Art Dela Cruz all sidelined due to injuries. — DVM, GMA News
