PBA: Digregorio, Erram combine for 50 as Blackwater blitzes San Miguel late

Mike Digregorio had 26 points, including eight straight in the final two minutes, to give the Blackwater Elite a 106-96 win over the San Miguel Beermen on Friday at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Digregorio had a lot of help in the final stretch of the game, with Pos Erram scoring 24 points with 18 rebounds and three assists. Allen Maliksi and James Sean chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively, but Emil Palma provided the much-needed lift off the bench with eight points- all in the fourth quarter- to give Blackwater the surprise win over the league leaders.

Four straight from Matt Roster and Chris Ross cut Blackwater’s lead to two with 8:01 to go, 82-80, but Eric Palma and Poy Erram responded off a timeout to stretch the lead to nine.

Arwind Santos and June Mar Fajardo tried to ignite San Miguel’s final put, stringing five points to trim the deficit to just six at the 3:13 mark, 96-90, but Mike Digregorio had eight straight points to put the game away, 106-92.

Arwind Santos had 22 points and nine boards for San Miguel, while Chris Ross almost recorded a double-double with 20 points, nine boards, and seven assists, playing a little over 38 minutes with just three turnovers. Marcio Lassiter and June Mar Fajardo rounded up the Beermen in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively, combining for 20 boards and six assists. —R. Fopalan/LBG, GMA News
