The TNT KaTropa defeated the Phoenix Fuel Masters on Sunday, 118-97, to earn a right to face the San Miguel Beermen in the quarterfinals of the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup.

Up by just five at the half, TNT exploded for 40 big points in the third to overwhelm Phoenix, 94-76, heading into the final frame.

The lead proved to be too large for the Fuel Masters, as the KaTropa took turns hitting their shots to keep Phoenix at bay.

Troy Rosario led TNT with 18 points, but he had a lot of help as five other KaTropa scored in double figures. Jericho Cruz continued to fit in in his new team, scoring 17 points apiece with Jayson Castro. RR Pogoy tallied 15, while Anthony Semerad and Kelly Williams added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Mathew Wright paced Phoenix with 18 points, while Doug Kramer was productive with 16. Gelo Alolino and RJ Jazul led the wings with a combined 24, while rookie Jason Perkins scored 10.

TNT will now prepare for a clash with the San Miguel Beermen on Tuesday, March 6, at 4:30 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena. — BM, GMA News
