DLSU's Brent Paraiso issues statement about drug rumors
On Twitter Monday, DLSU Green Archer Brent Paraiso posted his statement regarding rumors linking him to use of illegal drugs.
"If there's one thing playing for the green and white for more than 10 years has taught me, it's that you should always defend your team and never accept defeat. So I think it's time I try to defend myself and my family, and let the truth be known," the sophomore player said in his statement.
His statement comes almost a week after fellow Archer Ricci Rivero clarified the reasons why he took a leave from the men's basketball team.
Just to clear the space, I have my story to tell. ???????? Thank You and God Bless. pic.twitter.com/pP4CuQFhG6

Paraiso narrated undergoing two drug tests, one where he was asked to submit a urine sample for mandatory random drug testing, and the second, an initiated test "if ever the need arises."
The first test, according to Paraiso, tested positive for methampetamine (shabu), while the second tested negative to all types of banned substances. The results of the second test are included in Paraiso's statement on social media.
Despite the conflict in results of the two tests, Paraiso said, "I confidently stand by my position that I did not take those drugs."

"Almost anyone can identify a drug user without any scientific tests — more so if we're talking about addiction to shabu. From here on, I don't need to rebut further. There are more details to the story but I do not feel the need to expose the injustice I've received either. I simply want to clear my name and put all rumors to rest," Paraiso added.
Paraiso, together with Prince and Ricci Rivero, took a leave from the team last February after the implementation of a team policy that prohibits players to "enter into sponsorship endorsements with commercial entities."
"I'm not asking for praises not even acceptance but a chance to be heard is all I'm praying for. I too deserve some respect," Paraiso said.
