Almazan powers Rain or Shine past Ginebra
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters remained one of the two unbeaten teams in the league after defeating Barangay Ginebra, 108-99, in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Elasto Painters relied on their steady bench production, eclipsing their counterparts’ efforts with a 54-15 disparity. Ed Daquioag led the reserves with 19 points, while James Yap and Chris Tiu chipped in 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Reggie Johnson scored 16 points with just eight attempts. The import also grabbed 15 rebounds with three assists. Raymond Almazan led his squad in scoring with 20 points and eight boards, as Maverick Ahanmisi rounded up the scorers in double figures with 10.
The Elasto Painters edged the Gin Kings in fieldgoals, 47 to 40 percent, thanks largely to their 14 three-pointers. Ginebra, meanwhile, only connected on four triples.
After going down early in the game, 10-6, it was all Rain or Shine in the next three quarters, leading by as many as 21 points at one point. — DVM, GMA News
