TNT earns share of top spot with win over Ginebra

The TNT KaTropa earned a share of the top spot in the standings with a 96-92 win over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Jayson Castro led TNT with 27 points off the bench, while Roger Pogoy and Don Trollano chipped in a combined 26 as reserves. TNT’s bench outscored their counterparts, 65-21.

With the win, TNT improved to 3-2 to tie Rain or Shine, while Ginebra sank to 0-2 to join other winless teams NLEX (0-3) and Blackwater (0-4).

Only five points separated the two squads in  the final two minutes, but Barangay Ginebra missed back to back tries from deep to keep TNT ahead. A Roger Pogoy jumper stretched the Tropa’s lead to seven with 53 seconds left, before Troy Rosario cancelled out two Charles Garcia charities with his own makes, 93-86.

A quick triple from LA Tenorio trimmed the deficit to just four with 20 ticks to go, but Pogoy rung in insurance charities to keep Ginebra at bay.

Japeth Aguilar and Joe Devance paced Ginebra with 19 points apiece, while import Chanrles Garcia struggled with just 15 points off a 3 of 11 shooting clip. LA Tenorio was also limited to just 13 markers. — DVM, GMA News
