PBA: Garcia gets going as Ginebra routs Blackwater
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel flaunted their firepower with a 105-91 victory over the Blackwater Elite in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Gin Kings’ starters all scored in double figures, combining for 64 of the team’s points. Import Charles Garcia led the team with 18 and eight rebounds, while twin towers Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter combined for 25. Scottie Thompson and LA Tenorio, meanwhile, added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Ginebra led by as many as 26 at one point, as Blackwater struggled to keep in step past the opening period. The Gin Kings shot a high 53 percent from the field, out-rebounding their opponents, 52-43, while also moving the ball better for 27 assists to the Elite’s 19.
Jarrid Famous struggled to find help with the rest of the Blackwater starters, as only he scored in double figures with eight. Mac Belo, in particular, was limited to four points off a 2 of 10 clip.
Roi Sumang led the barrage off the bench with 18 points and seven assists, while new acquisition Paul Zamar impressed with 15 markers. Allein Maliksi rounded up the Elite players in double figures with 10.
With the win, Ginebra improved to 1-2, while Blackwater sank even lower to 0-5. —R. Fopalan/LBG, GMA News
