Elasto Painters earn top spot with win over GlobalPort
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters grabbed the top spot in the standings after defeating GlobalPort, 96-90, in the elimination round of the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Elasto Painters had five players in double figures, led by Reggie Johnson who had 18 points with 16 rebounds. James Yap and Chris Tiu came off the bench for a combined 24 points, while Maverick Ahanmisi and Raymond Almazan scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Rain or Shine maintained a double digit lead up until the final three minutes of the game, before Malcolm White and Nico Elorde led the late charge to trim the lead to six.
James Yap, whoever, converted on a split for a seven-point spread that put the game away.
Malcolm White led GlobalPort with 21 points, while Stanley Pringle and Sean Anthony combined for 29 markers. Kelly Nabong came off the bench for 13 more points.
With the win, Rain or Shine improved to 5-1 for the top spot, while GlobalPort slid to tie Columbian Dyip at 3-3. — DVM, GMA News
