LA Tenorio had 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists as Barangay Ginebra San Miguel leaned on a strong second half to defeat the Magnolia Hotshots, 104-84, in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The Gin Kings outscored the Hotshots 60-40 in the final 24 minutes of the game to cruise to victory.

Justin Brownlee paced Ginebra with 35 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while twin towers Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively. Slaughter added 14 boards, while Scottie Thompson accounted for 11 rebounds with his eight points.

The two teams were tied at 44-all at the half,  before Ginebra went on a 25-10 blast to end the period with a double digit lead, 79-65.

In the final frame, Magnolia couldn’t find a way to string points together, with their conversion coming sporadically, allowing Ginebra to break away. An 8-0 run heading to the final stretch stretched the lead to 24, allowing the Gin Kings to cruise to victory.

Justin Jackson had 21 points and 15 rebounds in heavy minutes for Magnolia, while Jio Jalalon led the local starters with 17. Paul Lee came off the bench for 16 points, as Mark Barroca rounded up the Hotshots in double figures with 13 points. — DVM, GMA News
