James Yap posts 'reunion' photo with Coach Yeng Guiao, Norwood and Taulava

Basketball star James Yap is excited: After nine years, he is reunited again with his Powerade-Team Pilipinas mates Gabe Norwood, Asi Taulava and coach Yeng Guiao.

"After 9 years nagkasama sama ulit kami. Noon para sa bayan, ngayon para sa bayan pa rin. Isang honor na mapili ulit na maglingkod sa bayan," Yap wrote on Instagram.

Yap, Norwood and Taulava were among the players chosen to represent the lineup in the 2018 Asian Games to be held in Indonesia.

The announcement to participate in the upcoming Games came as a surprise after the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas initially said it would not send a delegation to Indonesia. SBP cited preparations to appealing sanctions imposed by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) following the brawl between Philippine and Australian players during the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.

But SBP reversed its statement over the weekend, saying officials of the SBP and the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) said the Philippines will have a delegation in the upcoming continental sporting event.
