Clarkson: 'I will be with my Gilas teammates in heart and spirit'
In a Facebook post Monday morning (Philippine time), Cleveland Cavaliers guard Jordan Clarkson said he was disappointed with the NBA decision not to allow him to join the Philippine team in the 2018 Asian Games.
"To my Filipino brothers and sisters, I am terribly disappointed to say that I have not received the required consent to participate in the upcoming Asian Games with our National Team," Clarkson said in his post.
Showing his supposed jerseys for the tourney, Clarkson said he will continue to support the national team. "Although I will not be there in person, I will be with my Gilas teammates in heart and spirit," he added.
Despite the setback, the Fil-Am player said he still wants to play for the country and he is "adamant that this dream will come true."
The NBA on Sunday morning announced it has denied the Philippines' request to include Clarkson in the national team. It left top sports officials disappointed.
