When the National Basketball Association (NBA) disallowed Fil-Am hoop star Jordan Clarkson to don the national colors for the 2018 Asian Games on Sunday, Philippine sports leaders said the NBA "broke the hearts" of the Filipinos

But with the permission given to Clarkson to join the Philippine team, the SBP said that this decision of the NBA will "cheer the hearts" of the Filipinos.

"This action of the NBA will no doubt cheer the hearts of the Filipinos here and all over the world, as we warmly welcome Jordan into the Gilas Pilipinas team," the SBP said in a statement released Wednesday.

The SBP also thanked the NBA and the people who worked hard to get Cavs guard's clearance.

In a joint statement released Wednesday, the NBA and SBP said that with the recent development, they "share in the excitement of fans across the country and wish Gilas Pilipinas the very best in Indonesia."

On early Wednesday morning, Clarkson said he is grateful for finally being allowed to be a part of the Philippine national team.
