Guiao sees Clarkson fitting in well with PHL team
Jordan Clarkson on Thursday arrived at the venue in Indonesia in time to see the Philippine team put the finishing touches in its 96-59 win to open their campaign in the Asian Games basketball tournament.
The Cleveland Cavaliers guard is expected to suit up for Team Pilipinas on August 21 against China, and coach Yeng Guiao sees no issue with him fitting in.
"Kung kasing galing naman ni Clarkson makakasama mo, siguro that's a good problem blending him in," Guiao said shortly after the Philippines' win.
Clarkson will be joining a solid backcourt lineup that also features Stanley Pringle, who led the Pinoys with 18 points in their debut game. With Pringle leading the charge, the Philippines showed its defensive bite in limiting Kazakhstan to a miserable 30 percent shooting clip from the field.
“We were able to disrupt their offense. We were able to challenge their shots," said Guiao, who praised his coaching staff for preparing the squad.
"Our anticipation was good and that’s because of the scouting that we did and the implementation and the execution of our game plan,” he added. —JST, GMA News
