The NLEX Road Warriors are unbeaten no more after they suffered a 102-72 defeat against the Magnolia Hotshots on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum in the elimination round of the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Romeo Travis led Magnolia with 21 points and 13 boards, while Mark Barroca and Bam Gamalinda scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.

PJ Simon and Rome Dela Rosa were also instrumental off the bench, hitting a combined 22 points.

A 22-5 run to end the first half gave Magnolia a 19-point lead. The Hotshots stretched their lead to 20 at the 3-minute mark of the second, and they held on to the lead until the final buzzer.

The Road Warriors were limited to just 38 percent from the field, with a low 18 percent clip from deep after sinking just six of their 32 attempts from three-point country.

Magnolia, meanwhile, shot better at 49 percent, while also winning the rebound (53-44) and the assist battle (25-15).

Oluseyi Ashaolu scored 21 points with nine boards and three assists, but the import got little help from the rest of the Road Warriors.

The rest of NLEX’s starting lineup combined for just 13 points off a 6 of 20 clip from the field. NLEX’s bench was also limited to just 38 points compared with Magnolia’s 51-point bench output. — BAP, GMA News
