The Phoenix Fuel Masters added to TNT’s woes on Friday after earning a 112-82 victory at the Araneta Coliseum in the elimination round of the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Except for JC Intal, the rest of Phoenix’s starting five scored in double figures, with Jason Perkins leading the way with 22 points off a high 10 of 12 clip from the field.
Matthew Wright and Eugene Phelps scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, while Calvin Abueva scored 12 with 13 rebounds but with a 3 of 12 average on the floor. RJ Jazul and Joseph Eriobu combined for 22 more to lead the bench.
Save for a few periods in the opening quarter, Phoenix led the whole way, stretching their lead to more than 20 points in the second. The Fuel Masters led by as many as 41 at one point en route to victory.
Phoenix shot a decent 47 percent from the field, with a 12 of 24 clip from deep.
TNT, meanwhile, was limited to 31 percent from the field. The Fuel Masters also dominated the rebounding department, tallying 74 to TNT’s 49.
The KaTropa’s starters struggled to connect, hitting just 12 of their 51 attempts. Stacy Davis shot 4 of 18 from the field, while Roger Pogoy hit just 3 in 14 tries. Anthony Semerad and Troy Rosario did fare better, combining for 4 of 16.
Alfrancis Tamsi paced the bench with 14 points in 12 minutes, as Jericho Cruz and RR Garcia chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.
