Stanhardinger fires 36 as Beermen beat NLEX
Christian Stanhardinger came off the bench for 36 big points in just 27 minutes on the floor to lead the San Miguel Beermen past the NLEX Road Warriors, 125-112, for their first win in te 2018 PBA Governors' Cup.
AZ Reid poured in 30 points with 13 boards and six assists, while Alex Cabagnot added 23 points with nine assists and six boards. Marcio Lassiter and Chris Ross combined for 23 more points as starters.
The Beermen had their way in the paint, abusing NLEX's defense for a 62-36 disparity. San Miguel finished the game with a high 52 percent clip from the field, with an even more impressive line from within the arc at 58 percent. Coach Leo Austria's squad also dished out 33 assists to NLEX's 28, while committing just 16 turnovers to NLEX's 21.
The Road Warriors had their last taste of the lead early in the second period, before San Miguel raced to a 10-point lead. The Beermen stretched their advantage to as many as 20 points in the third, and NLEX failed to chip away at the deficit letting San Miguel cruise to Victory.
Aaron Fuller paced NLEX with 36 points and 16 rebounds with five assists, while Kenneth Ighalo and Michael Miranda scored 16 points apiece. Pong Galanza and Mac Tallo also added 11 each. — DVM, GMA News
