The FEU Tamaraws limited the UP Fighting Maroons to 13 points or less in at least two quarters to gain an 89-73 victory on Sunday in the UAAP Men’s Basketball competition.

The Tamaraws’ veterans stepped up in the game, with Prince Orizu and Wendell Comboy leading the charge with 15 and 12 points, respectively. Comboy also had five assists and five rebounds with a steal.

After taking a 24-15 lead after the first quarter, the Tams refused to allow UP to trim the lead in the second. FEU held on for a 49-35 edge at the half, which they turned into a 69-46 advantage heading into the final turn.

The lead proved to be too large, as UP’s 27 fourth quarter points were enough to make a dent, giving FEU the victory.

Jasper Parker and Axel Inigo had 11 points apiece, while Barkley Ebona and Hubert Cani added eight points each.

With the win, FEU improved to 2-1 to tie DLSU at third, while UE dropped to 1-2 along with NU and UST. — DVM, GMA News
