Tigers fall prey to Bulldogs for NU’s win no. 3

The NU Bulldogs tamed the UST Growling Tigers, 69-61, to notch their third win in UAAP Season 81, Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Bulldogs survived a fourth period run from the Tigers' 19 points against NU's 16. The Sampaloc-based squad, however, dominated the third quarter with 20 points against UST's 10, 53-42.  It was a tight race at the end of the first half as the Bulldogs hold a one-point lead against the Tigers, 33-32.

NU rookie Dave Ildefonso led the pack of the Bulldogs with 16 points, while big man Troy Rike pitched in 13.

UST guard Renzo Subido topped Coach Aldin Ayo's squad in scoring with 18 points.

With the win, NU improves to three and six, while UST slides to 4-5.

NU will be back on the hardcourt on Saturday to play Ateneo, while UST will try to bounce back against UE on Sunday.
