'Spiderman' apologizes to June Mar Fajardo, others over PBA finals intrusion

The man who dressed himself as Spiderman and interrupted a PBA game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday has apologized to player June Mar Fajardo and others whom he had "unintentionally" hurt.

"Sorry po du'n kasi that was unintentional po, kasi talagang malabo po 'yung mask. So hindi ko po talaga makita. Talagang sumugod lang ako. Hinarap ko lang po 'yung takot ko, 'yun lang po," the man told Luisito Santos of Super Radyo dzBB while being detained at Station 7 of the Quezon City Police District.

San Miguel and Magnolia were already in the fourth quarter of Game 5 of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup finals when the man, raising a flyer, made his run into the court.

He then collided with Fajardo, San Miguel center, in the course of his running.

Authorities seized from the suspect several other flyers with some bearing the words "Vote! Love!," "Filipinos Unite as One!," and "Vote Wisely this May 13!"

Police said the man will face charges of alarm and scandal and unjust vexation.

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial on Friday said they will talk to Smart Araneta Coliseum and National Capital Region Police Office chief Major General Guillermo Eleazar to request for additional security. —Jamil Santos/KG, GMA News
