"I take all the responsibility. As their head coach, it's just me lacking a lot of things."

This is what NU head coach Jamike Jarin said after another close loss, against the University of the East.

Jarin took the helm for the Bulldogs in Season 80 after delivering championships for the San Beda Red Lions and the Ateneo high school basketball team.

"I could give you a thousand excuses and reasons but I'm not that type of guy," he added.

This season produced Jarin's lowest record as NU head coach with just two wins. IN his first year with the Bulldogs, NU ended with a 5-9 win-loss card. Last year, they listed four wins and 10 losses.

What's next for Jarin?

"There's a saying, the darkest hour is best before dawn," he told reporters. "If you're asking me what's next, Happy Halloween!" he said in jest. However, he added, "the sun will always rise."

"There will always be good things for everybody," he added.

"I've been coaching for 21 straight years. Maybe it's time for me to step back a little," Jarin said when asked about his plans.

Despite the disappointing season, he remains optimistic for the Bulldogs' future.

"This NU program will get up. You got a lot of players, talent. Wala kang masasabi sa students, management," he said. "They've given all the support. I take all the blame," he said. — Justin Kenneth Carandang/BM, GMA News
