Gilas Pilipinas Women made history at Southeast Asian Games not only after winning their first gold medal in basketball, but also for notching the first gold medal in 3x3 basketball.

The quartet of Afril Bernardino, Jack Animam, Claire Castro, and Janine Pontejos bagged the women's 3x3 gold medal on December 2.

"Nung nag-champion kami sa 3x3, ganun pala 'yung feeling mag-champion sa SEA Games, first ever," Animam said on Tuesday.

It was that feeling that pushed them to win the gold in the 5x5 basketball.

"Nung nag-huddle kami right after, kaming apat sa 3x3, sabi namin ang sarap sa pakiramdam. So gawin din natin sa 5x5, so ito na nga sobrang sarap," Animam said.

Winning one gold medal is already special, but getting two is something that the girls will always remember.

"Yung 3x3, pinaghirapan namin, kaming apat, pati teammates namin," Bernardino said. "[Mga natutunan namin,] in-apply namin siya sa 5x5. [We] pushed everyone na lumaban din." —MGP, GMA News
