6-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo remains optimistic amid injury

Despite probably not being able to suit up for the San Miguel Beermen this season due to his shin injury, six-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo remained optimistic about his condition.
In an interview with reporters after receiving his award during the 44th Leo Awards at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday, Fajardo said he is still thankful for everything and that he believes this setback is just a setup for his comeback.
“Thankful ako kay God... sa pamilya ko. Nakakalungkot lang pero makakabalik pa naman ako,” said.
And while he is able to walk already with crutches, he said his recovery will still take about four to six months.
He also said he is not rushing his recovery because he wants his injury to heal properly.
“‘Di naman ako nagmamadali. Tini-take ko ‘yong time ko basta proper lang ‘yong healing, maayos. ‘Di ko mamadaliin para isang galingan na lang,” he said.
He added it was not an easy journey at first but knowing he will get through it kept him going.
“Alam ko namang malalampasan ko rin ‘to. Kahit gaano kasama ‘yong araw natin, 24 hours lang din ‘yon, lilipas lang din,” he said.
Fajardo added he is thankful for his family, teammates, coaches and fans for being with him every step of the way.
