Bo Perasol denies UP Maroons breached quarantine protocols: 'Anybody can investigate about it'
Bo Perasol has denied allegations that the University of the Philippines men's basketball team breached quarantine protocols amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"Anybody can investigate about it. As long as one person shooting around is not a violation, we did not violate any rule," the Fighting Maroons head coach said in a text message to GMA News Online.
Spin.ph reported on Wednesday that the UAAP is looking into the alleged training held by the Diliman-based squad.
According to another report from Tiebreaker Times, the issue seemed to have originated from an Instagram story posted by UP center Bright Akhuetie on August 1.
Perasol, however, said that Akhuetie was simply shooting around by himself. The coach and another person only served as rebounder and ball-retriever.
In a text message to GMA News Online, Games and Amusement Board (GAB) chair Baham Mitra said the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) body will discuss the matter on Monday.
UP is the third university involved in allegations of unauthorized training sessions despite the suspension of sports activities amid the health crisis.
The University of Santo Tomas is currently being investigated for its "Sorsogon bubble" while the National University is also asked to submit a report on the alleged training of its volleyball players. —Justin Kenneth Carandang/MGP, GMA News
