Neophoenix wins as Thirdy Ravena makes 13 in Japan B.League debut

Thirdy Ravena immediately notched a win in his debut as Asian import of the San-En Neophoenix in the Japan Professional Basketball League (B.League) on Saturday.

Playing against the Shimane Susanoo Magic in the Yonago Industrial Gymnasium, Ravena logged 13 points, two rebounds, and three assists to contribute to San-En’s second win in the tournament.

Early in the game, the former Ateneo star already showed a part of his skill set after dunking over Shimane’s De’Mon Brooks.

Neophoenix head coach Branislav Vi?enti? welcomed Ravena’s addition to the team and described him as an excellent player.

“I’m so happy that his debut is the one with the win,” Vi?enti? said. “I feel that he can really affect our game positively,” he added.

Ravena, for his part, admitted that he still needs to do some adjustments in his first professional stint. “As you can see, I still have a lot to improve on, especially my conditioning,” said Ravena.

Despite this, he said, “I'm here to do whatever it takes to help the team win.”

Serbian Stevan Jelovac, one of San-En’s reinforcements, led the team with 22 points and eight rebounds. American Kyle Hunt chipped in 15 markers.
