Tim Cone passes Jaworski in PBA titles won as Barangay Ginebra coach

As Barangay Ginebra won its first Philippine Cup title in 13 years on Wednesday, head coach Tim Cone also surpassed a franchise record set by Gin Kings legend Sonny Jaworski.

Cone notched his fifth title with Ginebra on Wednesday, a title ahead of Jaworski who won four titles as a coach.

Asked about his newest achievement, Cone said he was not aware that such a record had been within his reach.

"I didn't even know that. Wow, what an achievement," Cone said. "Just to be mentioned with the greats like Sonny Jaworski, it gives me goosebumps."

"I never would have thought [of] it, being here in Ginebra, being around the fans, and hearing all the comments, it's amazing," he added.

In his stint as Ginebra head coach, Cone has so far won three Governors' Cup titles (2016, 2017, 2019), a Commissioner's Cup title (2018) and a Philippine Cup title (2020).

To date, Cone has 23 PBA titles under his belt. —MGP, GMA News
