Gilas to pick Jaydee Tungcab, Jordan Heading, Tzaddy Rangel in PBA draft

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is set to pick three players from the Philippine Basketball Association's (PBA) pool of applicants in its upcoming rookie draft.

SBP on Friday said they will select Jaydee Tungcab, Jordan Heading, and Tzaddy Rangel in the draft proper scheduled on March 14.

“We were able to secure five players from the Gilas Draft in 2019 and we’re happy to welcome three additional talents in Jordan Heading, Tzaddy Rangel, and Jaydee Tungcab," SBP president Al Panlilio said in a statement.

Tungcab is a product of the University of the Philippines and was also a part of the Gilas Pilipinas team which swept Thailand in the November window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers. Meanwhile, the 6-foot-2 guard Jordan Heading and 6-foot-8 big man Tzaddy Rangel were Alab Pilipinas teammates in the ASEAN Basketball League.

The three will join 2019 Gilas draftees Isaac Go, Rey Suerte, Matt and Mike Nieto, and Allyn Bulanadi as members of the national team pool, which are on loan from their mother clubs in the PBA.

The upcoming rookie pool has a record of at least 94 applicants.

The PBA on Monday invited Gilas Pilipinas to join the upcoming Philippine Conference, but the SBP has not yet made a decision about it. —JCB, GMA News
