Jack Animam signs with East West Private, boosts shot at WNBA

The dream to step onto the WNBA hardcourt lives on for Jack Animam after she recently inked a deal with East West Private, the agency that handles the affairs of top Filipino prospects like Kai Sotto, Kobe Paras, Sage Tolentino, and Cholo Añonuevo.

With this, she could come closer in her bid to plunge into the most prestigious women’s basketball league in the world.

“Yes she just signed with EWP,” Patrick Aquino, Animam’s head coach in National University and Gilas Pilipinas Women, confirmed to GMA News Online.

Animam is coming off a stellar stint in the University Basketball Alliance (UBA) where she powered Shih Hsin University to an unbeaten campaign, helping her preserve a flawless 96-0 winning streak in collegiate ranks.

The Philippines has yet to send a talent into the WNBA and the 22-year-old Animam hopes to be that first ripple.

The closest shot it got was Chanelle Molina, who signed a training camp deal with Indiana Fever but was later dropped due to an injury.

But Aquino is beaming with hopes that his prodigy could someday emerge as the first Filipina in the WNBA, a fixture that has produced global talents like Diana Taurasi, Candace Parker, and Sue Bird.

“Let’s just hope for the best and hopefully her dreams will come true," said Aquino. —JMB, GMA News
