NBA 2K22 reveals first look at cover athletes, new features

Gaming company NBA 2K on Tuesday gave a first look at the NBA 2K22 version of its cover athletes.

Among the revealed NBA 2K22 versions are of Luka Doncic, who is the cover for the Standard Edition; Dirk Nowitzki, who is one of the three players included for the NBA 75th Anniversary Edition; and Candace Parker, the first female cover athlete of NBA 2K.

NBA 2K also announced some of game's new features.

In the latest version, MyCAREER and the City will come together to give its players "a groundbreaking narrative experience."

The New City had a makeover and is more teeming with life as it implements a new Quest system where players can earn more rewards. The community now has more activities depending on consoles, such as matchmaking, where players can be immediately in competition once they enter matchmaking buildings. Players can also board a cruise and play with other passengers on the decks of a ship.

On the MyCAREER side, characters can now have hidden talents beyond their basketball skills. They can also use these talents by interacting with non-playable characters and moving around the City. One can also expand their homes as they go up in their careers. These new features are available depending on the console a player is using.

Skills wise, players will be given more control on how their characters can score the ball to improve offensive and defensive combos. Players can also extend their seasons and will also be given more ways to build their own dream team.

NBA 2K22 is scheduled for release on September 10.
