NBTC to look for Pinoy talents all over the world through Global Games

The National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) is on the lookout for young Filipino basketball talents all over the world through its Global Games, which will start in 2022.

In the NBTC Global Games, the league will oversee qualifiers for Filipinos next year in different locations: two for the United States, and one each in Australia, Canada, Dubai, Italy-Europe, and New Zealand. Those qualified will play in the NBTC Finals slated for 2023.

Through these qualifiers, NBTC hopes searching for Filipino basketball prospects will be easier.

"Imagine, before, piling countries lang and nakikita at naa-identify, but now, with the opening of the Global Games, hundreds of potential talented players can be identified and put on the radar," said NBTC program director Eric Altamirano. "Mas lumawak ang network ngayon in terms of talent identification."

"It has always been NBTC's aim to identify, develop, and hone the best Filipino talents both here and abroad," Altamirano said. "We're hoping that the NBTC Global Games will open the door for hundreds of players overseas to showcase their talents and widen the pool for our national youth team."

The NBTC had been a part of some collegiate prospects' careers such as Eli Ramos and Kai Balunggay of Ateneo de Manila University and James Canlas of San Beda University.
