NorthPort's Slaughter, Coach Pido 'patched things up' after Magnolia debacle

NorthPort Batang Pier head coach Pido Jarencio and big man Greg Slaughter are both ready to move on after a controversial loss against the Magnolia Hotshots last Friday.

Slaughter, who registered 25 points for the Batang Pier in their win against the Rain or Shine Elastopainters on Sunday, emphasized that they trust each other in the team, including their head coach, Jarencio.

"We're just a team that wants to win. A lot of frustration last time, every time you lose a game, but that just makes us hungry for the next one," Slaughter said in the post-game conference.

"We trust in each other, we trust coach Pido. We have to move on to the next one."

Jarencio, meanwhile, said he has apologized to Slaughter about the decision to replace him last Friday during the final minutes of their game, and assured everyone that they have patched things up.

"I'm so apologetic to Greg and to the rest of the team," Jarencio said. "We patched things up, we're here to work, we are professionals."

The veteran coach also addressed his critics.

"Sa mga basher ko, sa mga hater ko, kung ano-ano ang mga pinagsasabi n'yo sa akin. I played for 17 years, I coached for 12 years, never akong na-involve sa kung anumang anomalya. Kaya kayong haters at bashers ko, bahala na ang Diyos sa inyo. I love you all."

[To my bashers and haters who said words about me. I played for 17 years and coached for 12 years. I was never involved in any anomalies. To my haters and bashers, God will take care of you. I love you all.]

Jarencio also admitted he is happy to win beside Slaughter and promised his team will be different when they enter the playoffs.

NorthPort is now at the sixth spot of the standings with a 5-5 record. They are set to play Alaska in the next playing week to wrap their elimination campaign.
