Calvin Oftana just shattered a 34-year record held by none other than Allan Caidic.

Oftana, a former MVP in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for San Beda University, collected a career-high 34 points in NLEX Road Warriors' 104-101 loss to Meralco on Wednesday night.

Of that breakout performance, Oftana made eight three-pointers on 12-of-18 from the field in just 29 minutes of play, breaking the previous record of most threes made by a rookie in a single game.

The previous holder of the record was Caidic, who buried seven triples for Great Taste in Game 2 of the Open Conference Finals on June 16, 1987 in a 135-134 OT loss to Tanduay.

Despite the defeat, NLEX has already clinched a quarterfinal berth and will now just await the result of the remaining games in the elimination round to determine their final seeding.

The Road Warriors are currently at seventh spot with a 5-6 card. — LA, GMA News
