Thirdy Ravena, San-en struggle against Hiroshima, drop to 2-3

Thirdy Ravena struggled with his shot early and his San-en team could not get the job done late as the NeoPhoenix fell to the Hiroshima Dragonflies, 76-67, at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall in Japan Professional Basketball League (B.League) action on Saturday.

Hiroshima improved to 4-1 for the season while San-en dropped to below .500 with a 2-3 win-loss card.

Ravena finished with just seven points on 3-for-12 (25%) shooting, with all three of his field goals coming in the second half. He also had three rebounds and one assist in just over 31 minutes of action.

His San-en teammate, Elias Harris, led all scorers with 23 points while Hiroshima’s Gregory Echenique paced the Dragonflies with 17 points and nine rebounds.

San-en rallied back from a 35-20 first half deficit to get within three, 36-33, at the half.

But they couldn’t gain much ground in the second half as Hiroshima’s Thomas Kennedy and Ryo Terashima knocked down big shots down the stretch to keep San-en at arms length.

Kennedy hit five three-pointers to finish with 15 markers for the Dragonflies while Terashima chipped in with 13.
