Juan Gomez de Liaño limited to one point in Earthfriends loss to Sendai 89ers

Juan Gomez de Liaño went for just one point in 12:19 minutes of action as the Earthfriends Tokyo Z lost to Sendai 89ers, 84-61 in Division 2 of the Japan Professional Basketball League (B.League) on Sunday.

The 89ers waxed hot early in the game and ended the first period with a dominant 24-5 lead. It proved costly to Gomez de Liaño's team despite outscoring the 89ers in the second period, 20-17, as they closed the first half with a 16-point deficit, 41-25.

It was all Sendai until the final buzzer to deal Earthfriends their fifth loss in as many games.

Devin Oliver listed 24 points, while Jerome Meyinsse added 22 for Sendai.

Meanwhile, Marc Eddy Norelia was the only player from Earthfriends who scored in twin digits with 19.

The two teams will face each other again on Monday night.
