Thirdy Ravena’s San-en dealt third straight loss by Javi Gomez de Liaño-less Ibaraki
Thirdy Ravena and the San-en NeoPhoenix were unable to arrest their slump in the 2021-2022 Japan B. League after suffering their third consecutive loss at the hands of Javi Gomez de Liaño’s Ibaraki Robots, 79-95, on Saturday at the Kamisu Disaster Prevention Arena.
Although still playing without Gomez de Liaño, the Robots cruised to their first win of the season to finally put a halt to the team’s six-game slump.
Eric Jacobsen led the offensive charge for Ibaraki with a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds to go along with an assist and a block in almost 30 minutes of play.
Both teams clash anew on Sunday, October 24, at 1:05 p.m.
San-en was coming off back-to-back losses to the Hiroshima Dragonflies last weekend, where Ravena only finished with 12 points, two rebounds, and one assist in the second meeting last Sunday.
The second-generation baller saw some improvement from that showing as he carved out 14 markers, two rebounds, four assists, and a block in today’s match.
The former Ateneo standout, though, poured only six points in the first two quarters as his club trailed Ibaraki at halftime, 37-41.
Ravena then came alive in the third quarter, converting eight of San-en’s 18 points in the frame but his offense was not enough as San-en was still behind by nine heading into the final period, 55-64.
San-en continued to struggle converting their shots as Jacobsen poured six of his overall output in the fourth to help steer the Robots to their first victory.
