Juan Gomez de Liaño's career-high 15 points, 9 assists not enough as Tokyo Z remains winless in B2

Juan Gomez de Liaño's posted new career-highs but those were not enough to lift Earthfriends Tokyo Z past the Fukushima Firebonds, 80-76, in Division 2 of the Japan B. League on Saturday.

The Filipino cager registered 15 points, five rebounds, nine assists, and three steals — all of those career-bests — in 26 minutes of action but Tokyo Z will have to endure a ninth straight loss to remain as the only team in the division who has yet to barge into the win column.

Fukushima, meanwhile, improved to 5-4.

Meanwhile, fellow Filipino baller in Kemark Carino suffered an identical result as his Aomori Wat's were dismantled by the Koshigaya Alphas, 109-56, as they now dropped to 1-8 while the Alphas improved to 6-3.

Carino, a product of San Beda, once again saw restricted playing time as he was only able to churn out two markers and five boards in almost 10 minutes of play on the hardwood.

Tokyo Z and Aomori both return to action on Sunday with Gomez de Liaño's club again facing Fukushima at 12:30 p.m. while Carino's club clashes with Koshigaya anew at 2 p.m.
