Dwight Ramos, Toyama spoil Thirdy Ravena's big game in weekend sweep of San-en
Dwight Ramos and the Toyama Grouses survived a gritty late stand by the San-en Neophoenix, 90-89, to sweep their weekend matches in the Japan Professional Basketball League (B.League) on Sunday.
Ramos scored with less than a minute left to give the Grouses an 88-85 lead over San-en.
Ravena, who scored a game-high 26 points in the contest, sank a triple to tie the game with just two seconds left, but it was Keijuro Matsui who delivered the winning shot for Toyama.
Ravena had the chance to force the game into an extra period off a Bryce Johnson foul but the San-en Asian import could only split the decisive free throws.
Besides leading all scorers in the game, Ravena also finished with nine rebounds, and five assists in the losing effort. He shot 11-for-14 (78.6%) from the field and 2-for-3 (66.7%) from three.
Ramos, meanwhile, had a double-double performance of 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Grouses. Joshua Smith led Toyama with 19 markers and 11 boards.
Toyama will play the Ryukyu Golden Kings on December 4, while San-en will play the Mikawa Seahorses on the same date.
