Cairns spoils Kai Sotto's NBL debut, mauls Adelaide by 26


Kai Sotto finally made his highly-anticipated debut in the National Basketball League (NBL) but his Adelaide 36ers could not pick up a win against the Cairns Taipans, absorbing a 93-67 loss on Saturday night (Manila time).

Sotto, who was sidelined for the squad's first four matches due to knee soreness, logged in almost 10 minutes of action and was able to churn out one point, three rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. 

Dusty Hannahs carried the load for Adelaide with team-high 20 points, two rebounds, and two assists while Isaac Humphries finished with a double-double of 12 markers and 10 boards.

The loss dropped Adelaide to 2-3 while the Taipans improved to 2-1.

Meanwhile, Majok Deng drilled 23 points and seven rebounds to tow Cairns to the victory with Stephen Zimmerman boosting their offense with 18 markers to go along with nine boards and four dimes.

Adelaide will be back on the court on December 28, Tuesday, at 4:30 p.m.
