Dwight Ramos, Toyama fall to Akita; Cariño's, Juan GDL's clubs extend respective losing skids
Dwight Ramos and the Toyama Grouses fell to the Akita Northern Happinets, 80-64, in the Japan Professional Basketball League (B.League) on Sunday.
After being up by just five points in the opening of the fourth period, 56-51, Akita's lead ballooned to 70-54 after a pivotal run before the halfway mark of the final period.
Toyama had a hard time cutting the deficit, giving Akita their third win this 2022.
Ramos was limited to just six points in 8:05 minutes of play to split the results of their weekend games. Brice Johnson listed 17 points, while Julian Mavunga added 16 in the loss.
Jordan Glynn scored a game-high 22 points, while Alex Davis and Takatoshi Furukawa contributed 16 points each for the win.
Toyama will be back in action on January 22 against the Seahorses Mikawa.
Meanwhile, both teams of Filipino players Kemark Cariño and Juan Gomez de Liaño lost in Division 2 action.
Cariño and his Aomori Wat's squad were dismantled by the Kumamoto Volters, 110-57. Cariño played only 2:19 minutes in their 12th straight loss.
On the other hand, Earthfriends Tokyo Z extended their losing streak to seven after falling to the Sendai 89ers, 91-75, with Gomez de Liaño not seeing action in the game.
