Jimmy Alapag hopes to be an example for others as Stockton Kings share his NBA coaching journey

For the Sacramento Kings NBA G League affiliate team Stockton Kings, their assistant coach and former Gilas Pilipinas captain Jimmy Alapag is the "epitome of what it means to follow your dreams."

In their social media post on Saturday, the Stockton Kings shared Alapag's journey to being an assistant coach in the NBA.

Alapag, in a video, shared the importance of pursuing one's dreams.

"I think it's important, whatever it is that you love, and whatever it is that you're passionate about, I think, you have to keep pushing and keep going," he said.

He also hopes to be an example for others also wanting to take the same path he had.

"I know how thankful and how blessed I am to have this opportunity in the G League, and again hopefully, it serves as encouragement and motivation for the next young player or young coach who wants to be here," he said. 

"Hopefully I can help set the bar in terms of how I work and how I respect the position that I'm in, to be on staff here, and encourage them to hopefully be here someday as well."

Alapag was officially named as part of the Stockton Kings staff back in August 2021.
