Gilas Pilipinas is getting a much-needed boost come the February window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers as Thirdy Ravena will suit up for the nationals.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al Panlilio told GMA News Online that Ravena will reinforce the national team as they go up against South Korea twice and once against New Zealand and India starting February 24.

"Yes, he arrived yesterday," Panlilio said in a short message when asked if Ravena will join Gilas.

The 25-year-old Ravena is currently playing as import for the San-en NeoPhoenix in the Japan B. League, but his club won't be in action until at least February 26 against his brother Kiefer and the Shiga Lakestars.

SBP's Butch Antonio added that Ravena will join the team as soon as possible as the team gears up for another training in Moro lorenzo Gym.

"He's gonna join as soon as possible, maybe today. But we're not going to hold a bubble, [we will hold the training] at the Moro Lorenzo Gym," Antonio said.

The Philippines will open its campaign against South Korea on February 24 before facing India and New Zealand on February 25 and 27, respectively. Gilas Pilipinas will then close out the window against Korea anew on the 28th. — LA, GMA News
