Gilas Pilipinas Women are now working towards starting their training camp for the Vietnam Southeast Asian Games set on May 12 to 23 in Hanoi.

According to head coach Patrick Aquino, they have already sent out a letter addressed to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in bid to get the green light to begin their crucial buildup.

The Filipinas are looking to defend their twin gold medals during the 2019 SEA Games, where they ruled both the 5-on-5 and 3x3 competitions.

"We are preparing to return to practice hopefully soon," Aquino told GMA News Online.

Aquino is hoping that they will no longer be mandated to hold a bubble-type camp like their men's counterparts, who will now hold their training at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center in Quezon City.

"[We are] just waiting [on] what kind of protocols they will implement on us. I hope [it's] not a bubble but we are prepared to go into a bubble also with the help of SBP [executive director] Sonny Barrios."

Aside from the SEA Games, Gilas Pilipinas Women is also preparing for the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in September.
