Phoenix taps Du’Vaughn Maxwell to replace Dominique Sutton
The Phoenix Super LPG is bringing in a new import in hopes of arresting their skid to catch the playoff bus.
The Fuel Masters have tapped Du’Vaughn Maxwell to replace Dominique Sutton with just two games left in their elimination round campaign in the 2021 PBA Governors Cup, where they currently tally a 4-5 card.
This would be Phoenix' second import change in this season-ending conference.
Their original reinforcement was Paul Harris, who needed to be replaced due to a hamstring injury last December. With Harris on board, Phoenix went 3-2, winning their games against Terrafirma, Blackwater, and NLEX.
With Sutton, meanwhile, the Fuel Masters have experienced a slump, losing in their last three games against Magnolia, San Miguel, and NorthPort. Sutton's only victory came during their 93-92 escape of TNT.
Phoenix still has two games left in the regular season. They will face Alaska on Thursday before taking on Meralco on March 11, Friday.
Maxwell has already arrived last night and is expected to suit up quickly against the Aces, who are desperate to end their last conference in the league on a high note.
"He arrived last night. After a 1-3 record [in the last] last 4 games, coaches and management are just looking for someone who could fit our system and gel better with the locals," Phoenix team manager Paolo Bugia told GMA News Online.
"Hopefully he is enough to get back on the winning track." — LA, GMA News
