Alas, Chua star as NLEX nips Barangay Ginebra, extends series to Game 4
The road hasn't ended just yet for the Road Warriors.
NLEX unleashed a fourth quarter surge to escape Barangay Ginebra in Game 3, 86-85, and avoid a sweep in their best-of-five semifinal series in the PBA Governors' Cup on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Trailing 59-62 after the first three quarters, the wards of head coach Yeng Guiao opened the payoff period with a quick 11-0 run with big man Justin Chua scoring six points in that rampage.
Ginebra tied things up at 74-apiece on an Arvin Tolentino jumper and regained the upper hand shortly after with a pair of charities from Scottie Thompson.
Kevin Alas then took over, scoring five crucial points as NLEX reclaimed the lead, 81-78, with 3:06 left in the game. The lead stayed with NLEX for good, with import Cameron Clark sealing the deal with free throws, 86-85.
Alas finished with 15 points, four assists, and two rebounds off the bench while Chua had 13 markers, five boards, and two steals as they extended the series to a Game 4 on March 30.
Clark also had a big game with a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds to go along with five steals and four assists.
