BPC Scottie Thompson hailed as PBA Governors' Cup Finals MVP
It isn't just a double celebration for Scottie Thompson.
The do-it-all guard has been named the Finals MVP after Barangay Ginebra scooped the 2021 PBA Governors' Cup with a mastery of archrival Meralco in Game 6 on Friday.
The Final MVP plum came just days after Thompson was crowned the Best Player of the Conference, edging other candidates in Mikey Williams of TNT, Robert Bolick and Arwind Santos of NorthPort, and Matthew Wright of Phoenix Super LPG.
"Speechless ako. [Sa] 20,000 fans, kung hindi dahil sa inyo, hindi namin makukuha 'to. Maraming salamat sa suporta niyo," Thompson said.
("I'm speechless. To the 20,000 fans, if not for you, we would not be able to win this. Thank you very much for your support.")
Thompson has been steady all series long against the Bolts, where he posted averages of 17.83 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.17 steals as the Gin Kings spoiled the Bolts' championship dreams.
