The Philippine national women's basketball team inched closer to another basketball gold medal as they dismantled Singapore, 88-61, on Saturday in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Gilas Pilipinas Women put together a wire-to-wire win and led by as much as 31, 68-37, before the end of the third period.

Singapore tried to catch up as they outscored the nationals in the fourth, 24-20, but the margin was already wide enough for the Philippines to cruise to their fourth win after defeating Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Clare Castro put up big numbers against the Singaporeans as she tallied 15 points and four rebounds, and two blocks, while Janine Pontejos and Khate Castillo listed 14 points each.

The national team will play one more game on Sunday against Malaysia before the placings will be determined.
